There are three types of Health, safety and Environment test

The Operatives test ensures workers have a minimum level of health, safety and environmental awareness before going on site. This test only covers the following four core knowledge areas:

  • Working environment
  • Occupational health
  • Safety
  • High risk activities
  • Specialist

Specialists test include same four core knowledge chapters and in addition one topic of the following from the specialist chapter.

  • supervisory (SUP)
  • demolition (DEM)
  • plumbing (JIB) (PLUM)
  • highway works (HIW)
  • specialist work at height (WAH)
  • lifts and escalators (LAEE)
  • tunnelling (TUNN)
  • HVACR - heating and plumbing services (HAPS)
  • HVACR - pipefitting and welding (PFW)
  • HVACR - ductwork (DUCT)
  • HVACR - refrigeration and air conditioning (RAAC)
  • HVACE - services and facilities maintenance (SAF)

Managers and Professionals test include same four core knowledge chapters and in addition three of the following topics from the specialist chapter

  • Construction (Design and Management Regulations)
  • Demolition
  • Highway works

Working environment

By knowing what is needed, you will be able to understand what you and your employer's legal duties are in respect of protecting yours and other people's health and safety while at work.

Occupational health

Work-related ill health has devastating consequences for individuals and their families, this is often misunderstood and underestimated.

Safety

Safety signs and symbols are important safety communicating tools, they help to indicate various hazards that present in construction site. At the same time, they warn workers to always keep watching out for those hazards by giving required information and safety instructions.

High risk activities

Take all precaution when doing risky activities to ensure your work is safe. Ensure you follow approved method of handling risky activities.

Special knowledge chapter

Specialists

Contains wide range of topics covering different subjects. Study your chosen subject in order to gain specialised knowledge about a particular profession.

Managers and Professionals knowledge chapter

Manager & Professional

Contains knowledge all managers need to carry out their day to day duties. These duties including following current regulations and completing tasks in a safe manner.

The behavioural case study questions are designed to test how you respond to health and safety situations on a construction site. They are based on the principles established in the film Setting out - what you should expect from a site and what the expect from you. Evey test includes three case studies, each of which has four linked multiple-choice questions. These progress through a fictional situation faced by an individual working in the construction industry.
